Lady Tureiti Moxon Appointed to Board of Tapuwae Roa

Te Ohu Kaimoana is pleased to announce the appointment of Lady Tureiti Moxon (Ngāti Pāhauwera, Ngāti Kahungunu, Kāi Tahu) to the Board of Te Pūtea Whakatupu Trustee Limited, (operating as Tapuwae Roa), for a four-year term commencing 28 November 2025.

Lady Moxon is a widely respected leader within te ao Māori, bringing more than three decades of experience in governance, kaupapa Māori strategy, and systemic reform across the health, education, justice, and Māori development sectors. She holds an LLB and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Waikato in 2024 for her outstanding contributions to Māori health and wellbeing.

As Managing Director of Te Kōhao Health in Kirikiriroa for over 20 years, Lady Moxon has led one of Aotearoa’s foremost kaupapa Māori health and social service providers. Throughout her career, she has confronted systemic bias and health inequities faced by Māori, forging a lasting legacy of change that continues to uplift whānau and communities across the motu.

She also serves as the Chair of the National Urban Māori Authority (NUMA) and holds a number of governance and advisory roles across iwi, community, and national forums. Her contributions to kaupapa Māori education have been transformational, including the establishment of kōhanga reo throughout Waikato, Hauraki, and Maniapoto, and the development of innovative school-based programmes that reconnect rangatahi with their whakapapa, identity, and Māoritanga.

Lady Moxon will succeed the position currently held by Kate Cherrington, whose term as Director of Tapuwae Roa expires in November 2025.

We welcome Lady Moxon to the Board and look forward to the expertise, vision, and unwavering commitment to Māori advancement that she brings to Tapuwae Roa.
